I reworded the pledge text ever-so-slightly.

What read, “I DECLARE THAT I WILL NOT WATCH A CHINESE-HOSTED OLYMPICS, AND I WANT THE MEDIA TO KNOW”

…now reads, “I DECLARE THAT I WILL NOT WATCH THE OLYMPICS HOSTED BY THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA, AND I WANT THE MEDIA TO KNOW.”

After numerous comments from people trying to clarify their opposition to the government and not the people of China, this seemed a vital designation. I felt that this was a rewording of the same pledge and not any change of sentiment. If any of the hundred or so under the text want to be removed, please let us know at info@iwontwatchtheolympics.com.

I didn’t think Lisa’s letter implied otherwise, but it’s probably important to mention a point raised by some of the signatories:

This petition was not started in protest of the Chinese as a people, but in protest of the actions Chinese government.
